Act BOLDLY and Take Care of our Warriors
Day of Giving Priorities

The Lycoming College community and world have been significantly affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. In response, Lycoming decided to continue with its Day of Giving on Wednesday, April 22, in order to prioritize giving opportunities that support the most vulnerable in our community. We greatly appreciate your support. Even during these uncertain times, our Lycoming community rose to the challenge and Acted BOLDLY. Through your collective generosity, we proved that no matter what adversities we encounter, together we remain Warrior Strong!

Student Retention Fund Challenge

The Student Retention Fund provides critical resources to students performing well academically who are at risk of not completing their degree because of unforeseen financial hardships. Due to the pandemic, students and families are facing unemployment, loss of income, significant changes in financial resources, and dramatic upheaval in family situations that are putting their ability to complete their education at risk. On April 22, every gift made to this challenge was met with a 50 percent matching gift.

Student Lifeline Fund

The Student Lifeline Fund supports students facing extraordinary hardships in ways that extend beyond simply paying for tuition. COVID-19 has created new and overwhelming challenges for families, especially those who are already under-resourced. Gifts to this fund will support students facing challenges brought on by this pandemic, including unstable living situations, food insecurity, moving and travel expenses, loss of paid internships and employment, and new technology expenses in order to thrive in a remote, online educational setting. Lycoming has already provided essential support to more than 80 students, and the need for additional support will continue to increase in the weeks and months ahead as we navigate this global crisis and do all we can to care for our students.

Mental Health & Wellness Fund

Increasing Lycoming College’s capacity to support the mental health and wellness of our students during this crisis is also a priority. This is a time in which we need to augment and enhance the ways in which members of our community provide for the emotional, psychological, and social well-being of our students through counseling, wellness opportunities, and tools for navigating stress and isolation. In an effort to better serve our students during times of distress, Lycoming has established a Mental Health & Wellness Fund for students needing additional support related to medical and/or emotional needs not only in this current period, but more generally as we seek to address this societal and generational need.
