Lycoming named recipient of $500,000 grant from John E. Morgan Foundation, Inc.

The John E. Morgan Foundation, Inc., has awarded a grant to Lycoming College in the amount of $500,000, enabling the College to further expand financial aid to benefit a number of students from Tamaqua and Schuylkill County.

The grant will be used to create The John E. Morgan Endowed Scholarship Fund to provide annually renewable scholarships for Lycoming College students, with preference given to those who graduated from Tamaqua Area High School located in Tamaqua, Pa., or other high schools located in Schuylkill County, Pa., and who are pursuing studies in Lycoming's newly launched, interdisciplinary entrepreneurship program.

"We are honored by the John E. Morgan Foundation's grant to Lycoming College and acknowledge the tremendous impact this grant will have on generations of students. Even more, we are excited to strengthen the educational opportunities available to Tamaqua and Schuylkill County students," said Chip Edmonds, executive vice president at Lycoming College. "The high-impact education we provide has proven time and again to be life changing for our students. It will be our privilege to further the foundation's goals and priorities as they relate to educating central Pennsylvania's next generation of leaders in business and society."

Named in honor of textile industry entrepreneur and philanthropist John Morgan (1912-2001), the John E. Morgan Foundation, Inc., is a nonprofit corporation with its principal office located in Tamaqua.
