On April 24, 2019, the Lycoming College community rose to the challenge and dared to be Greater! Alumni, faculty, staff, students, parents, and friends near and far joined together to help create a Greater Lycoming by participating in its first ever Day of Giving. Through their collective generosity, 917 donors raised $265,533 in just 24 hours to support the College and future generations of Warriors.
Donors had the opportunity to participate in challenges throughout the day in order to unlock additional funds for areas of interest, including music, fraternities and sororities, scholarships, athletics, and the Center for Enhanced Academic Experiences. The College was able to unlock $5,000 for Men’s Lacrosse, award a Homecoming & Family Weekend 2019 tailgate to Alpha Sigma Tau, and raise $40,800 in scholarships, including two named annual scholarships, to support Lycoming students.
The day was full of festivities held in Pennington Lounge in the Academic Center. Students were encouraged to stop by and sign thank you cards for donors and enter a raffle for gift cards while enjoying Krispy Kreme Doughnuts, Pudgie’s Pizza, and ice cream sundaes. Faculty and staff were invited to partake in the excitement while making their donations.
Dollars raised during the Day of Giving helped to support The Campaign for a Greater Lycoming, the College’s most ambitious campaign in history with the purpose of securing resources that would ensure the recruitment and retention of talented students, the creation of new academic programs and initiatives to deliver a 21st-century liberal arts and sciences education, and a renewed investment in the physical campus while deepening the connections with the City of Williamsport.
All donors who have made a gift throughout the Campaign — regardless of size or designation — will receive an invitation to a celebration held on Saturday, October 5, 2019, during Homecoming & Family Weekend.
